| Permissions Requests |
Permission is authorization to make a copy (printed or electronic) of material that is protected by copyright. Examples of copying for which permission is required include photocopying, re-publishing printed works, or posting material to a web page.
Permission is usually granted with a number of conditions and often includes a fee.
To find out who owns copyright for a particular work, consult the copyright page in the work as well as any acknowledgements.
Often copyright is held by the author of the work and permissions are handled for them by their publisher, who should also be listed on the copyright page. If you have a photocopy that does not contain a copyright notice, refer to an original copy of the work.
