Dr. Elaine Garan is an award-winning researcher and educator with 24 years of experience as a reading teacher. She is the author of Resisting Reading Mandates (Heinemann, 2002) and several articles on reading. She has seen education from all sides, as a parent, teacher, researcher, university professor, and grandparent who is looking to her granddaughter's future.
